Kente-Wrapped Djembe Hand Drum – Small 8" x 10"

The drum is the heartbeat of celebration. The goblet-shaped djembe has roots among the Mandé peoples of West Africa and is now played at gatherings across the region, including Ghana.

This small drum is a great size for beginners, kids, drum circles, classrooms, and cultural events. It also makes a striking piece of wall décor. The body is made from wood topped with a natural animal-hide head, and it has a deep, resonant tone. Kente-pattern fabric wraps the bowl, and rope lacing holds the head taut over a dark, flared base. A cord loop lets you hang it on the wall. Two fabric colorways are pictured: green with gold, and blue with gold. Size: 8" x 10".

Care: store it in a dry place away from heaters and direct sun, and avoid long exposure to moisture, which can loosen or crack the head. Play with open hands and never with sticks.

Each drum is assembled by hand, so the fabric pattern, hide markings, and tone will vary slightly.
